“Final step has left for the accession of Afghanistan to TRACECA” – noted during the meeting between His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Taqi Khalili, Afghan Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Mr. Ciopraga, TRACECA Secretary General

On the meeting H.E. Mr. Khalili expressed his interest to the latest status of accession of Afghanistan to TRACECA.

Taking into consideration the Final Resolutions of the 11th Annual Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA and Istanbul Declaration Mr. Ciopraga mentioned that all the Parties expressed their consent on the accession. The final step is official notification of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the address of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan – the Depositary of the Basic Agreement.

Mr. Ciopraga assured His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Khalili, in full support and further assistance for the purposes of the accession Afghanistan to TRACECA

It should be noted that Basic Multilateral Agreement (MLA) TRACECA on International Transport for Development of the Europe – Caucasus - Asia Corridor signed in 1998 at Baku Summit and ratified by 13 Nations aims at developing economic relations, trade and transport communications in the regions of Europe, Black Sea, the Caucasus, the Caspian Sea and Asia;
facilitating access to the international market of road, air and railway transport and also commercial maritime navigation; ensuring traffic safety, security of goods and environment protection.
