Development of TRACECA ports within the framework of implementation of the One Belt- One Road initiative
On 21-23 May 2018, the 7th Black Sea Ports and Shipping 2018 Exhibition and Conference took place in Varna, Republic of Bulgaria for the first time.
The two days’ conference was hosted by Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure company, featured with 35 world-class speakers, more than 300 senior executive harbour masters, engineers, maintenance supervisors and decision makers with region’s leading shippers, cargo owners, importers/exporters and other distinguished guests.
Mr. Mircea Ciopraga, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA was invited as a speaker on the Special Welcome Address of the 3rd Session, called – “One Belt – One Road initiative in achieving economic stability, growth and prosperity”.
During his speech Secretary General expressed that communication of the Mediterranean routes with the TRACECA corridor with further extension towards the PRC according to its concept initiative “One Belt. One Road” shows good prospects for future economic development of these regions.
Mr. Ciopraga also noted that the TRACECA Regional Action Strategy on Maritime Safety and Security and Environmental Protection for the period up to 2021 adopted by the participating countries of the Basic Multilateral Agreement at the Ninth Annual Meeting of the IGC TRACECA (Bucharest, 24 November 2011) is considered as a common structure for cooperation of the countries of the Black and Caspian Seas in the field of maritime transport, particularly, maritime protection and security and the basis of the activities in the near future.
“I am sure that joint efforts both within the framework of this meeting and other meetings on expansion of cooperation in the regions present much interest in the context of achieving sustainable economic and social development, contributing to strengthening peace and stability.” – said Secretary General.
At the end of his speech, Mr. Mircea Ciopraga expressed gratitude to organizers for the brilliant arrangement of the Conference and wished to other participants’ success in achieving of the set goals as well as the prosperity of the common cause.
