The corridor map should reflect the main routes connecting the TRACECA countries
On October 14, 2020, the Second Meeting of the Working Group on Streamlining the TRACECA transport routes scheme was held via web conferencing.
The main objective of the Working Group is to develop the approaches on streamlining the scheme of transport links and to determine the criteria for identifying the routes that pass through the territories of Europe, the Caucasus and Asia.
During the Meeting, the members of the Working Group considered and discussed in detail all the received proposals for the draft Methodology for Identification of the TRACECA routes.
The Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA informed the participants that the existing map of the ITC TRACECA should be easy to use and show the main routes that connect the TRACECA countries. This will allow to focus the work of the Permanent Secretariat on these routes, to evaluate the checkpoints’ and logistics facilities’ state along the corridor, which will create the favourable conditions for cargo transportation between Europe and Asia.
The members of the Working Group decided to make the relevant changes to the Methodology according to the comments of the representatives from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Turkey and to submit it for consideration during the next Meeting of the Permanent Secretariat.
