TRACECA participated in the Conference on implementation of knowledge sharing on digitalization of transport corridors among CICA Member States

On December 10, 2025, the Conference on implementation of knowledge sharing on digitalization of transport corridors among the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Member States, organised by the CICA Secretariat jointly with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held via web-conferencing.

The main goal of the conference was to facilitate the exchange of experience and best practices in digitalization of transport corridors, discussion of existing challenges and opportunities, as well as the development of recommendations on further advancement of digital solutions for increasing the effectiveness, sustainability and competitiveness of international transport corridors.

Within the framework of the event, special attention was paid to the issues of seamless data exchange, interoperability of digital systems, introduction of electronic transport documents and harmonization of legal and regulatory approaches.

Mr Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, participated in the work of the event, who delivered a presentation dedicated to recommendations on forming a further roadmap in digitalization of transport corridors. Within his speech, he emphasized that digital transformation is an integral strategic factor of the development of modern transport and logistics systems, contributing to the simplification of procedures, reducing administrative barriers and accelerating cross-border transport.

The Secretary General informed the participants on the TRACECA activities in digitalization, including the development and implementation of the Digital Concept of the international transport corridor TRACECA, work of the Working Group on Digitalization, as well as the initiatives on the introduction of electronic transport documents, such as e-TIR, e-CMR and e-CIM/SMGS consignment note. Special emphasis was placed on the preparation of the draft Agreement on the application of electronic documents along the TRACECA corridor, aimed at establishing a legal framework for mutual recognition of electronic data and documents between the member states.

During the conference, representatives of CICA Member States, international organisations and relevant bodies discussed best practices in digitalization of transport corridors, issues of introducing international standards, including the UN/CEFACT standards, as well the prospects of developing digital corridors and platforms for data exchange.

TRACECA places particular importance on holding international events as an effective platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange and coordination of approaches between states and partners, as well as for promoting joint initiatives aimed at developing sustainable, digital and interconnected transport corridors in the Eurasian region.
