On 23 February 2022, in Nur-Sultan, in the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan a meeting of Mr Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA was held

The main topic of discussions with the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Kairbek Uskenbayev, and the Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Mr Berik Kamaliev, were the status of the implementation of initiatives, as well as priority documents for the development of the TRACECA international transport corridor in the country.

As part of the exchange of views, the Secretary General emphasized that during 2020-2021 the Permanent Secretariat was working on the development and phased implementation of initiatives in the TRACECA countries, including institutional measures and practical steps to simplify the transport process and border crossing procedures.

The meeting participants discussed the outcomes of the work of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, considered the development of transportation in the Caspian Sea, pilot projects for the implementation of digital solutions. At the same time, the participants highly appreciated the TRACECA initiatives to increase transit through the territory of the countries and strengthen cooperation.

Along with this, domestic approval of the draft Agreement on Single Transit Permit TRACECA, accession to the Agreement on the Development of Multimodal Transport TRACECA, piloting of digital solutions (eTIR, eCMR, GTrD, e-queue) were among the priority items on the Agenda of the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the main areas aimed at digitalization, the introduction of electronic documents, development of maritime transport in the Caspian and Black Seas, container transport, as well as deepening cooperation with international organizations, which are being actively developed with the support of countries.
At the same time the efforts of Kazakhstan in the area of development of transit traffic and infrastructure were emphasized.

“I believe that the work carried out by the Permanent Secretariat will make a significant contribution to the reduction of transportation time and the development of transport along the corridor routes,” said the TRACECA Secretary General, A. A. Assavbaev, at the end of the meeting.

The parties expressed their confidence that the activity under TRACECA would have an impact on the further development of transit of the entire Europe-the Caucasus-Asia region.
