In December 2021, in Brussels, the TRACECA Representative-Advisor to the EU held a number of meetings with the Ambassadors and representatives of the Embassies of the MLA TRACECA member states

Among the countries participating in the meetings were the Embassies of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Turkey.

During the meetings, the information on the current status of the development of the TRACECA corridor and the main initiatives for its development was provided to the representatives of the diplomatic corps of the aforementioned Embassies.

TRACECA expresses its constant adherence to the principle of ensuring effective and reliable international Eurasian transport links, readiness to deepen cooperation with the EU, while including the proposals of the TRACECA countries aimed at developing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the corridor.

The main traffic flows that pass through the TRACECA corridor are formed, on the one hand, in Western and Central Europe, and on the other, - in Central and Southeast Asia.

TRACECA is open for the dialogue with all parties interested in promoting further liberalization of foreign trade and reducing barriers to the movement of goods along the entire transport corridor and strengthening the regional transport dialogue. Among the main areas of work of the Permanent Secretariat today, the most relevant are the issues of digitalization, harmonization and containerization of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia corridor.

At a new stage of development, TRACECA is actively involved in the trade and economic development trends between Europe and Asia and is exploring new opportunities to expand cooperation with industry transport and trade and economic associations and unions in the EU, which can increase the competitiveness of the corridor and its potential.

On the outcomes of the meetings, representatives of the diplomatic corps noted their readiness to assist in deepening and developing the dialogue in the TRACECA-EU format.

TRACECA unites the transport system of thirteen countries, which form a corridor stretching from Europe to the borders of China (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan). The chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA is rotated annually between the member states. At present the Republic of Bulgaria has assumed the chairmanship in the IGC TRACECA.
