Opening meeting of LOGMOS project for the Black Sea Region in Kiev on 4-6 July 2011

The Black Sea region stakeholders of the LOGMOS project joined efforts to determine steps on the implementation of the action plans for development of the TRACECA MOS and Logistics pilot initiatives in the region. The LOGMOS project will continue the efforts inherited from previous TRACECA projects to establish result oriented dialogue between public and private sectors.

The representatives of the transport authorities, shipping companies, ports, railways, customs, road transport, freight forwarders and real estate owners exchanged first-hand information on pilot initiatives development plans. The participation of the PS representative in the meeting confirms the fact of the increased ownership of the TRACECA structures on the results of the multimodal initiatives launched within the previous projects.

Special attention of the seminar will be drawn to the new developments of the ports in the Black Sea regions. Especially, the future plans of the ports on Ro-Ro, containerization, development of multimodal capacities and logistics were presented by the ports of Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine. The meeting decided on concrete steps for improved performance of the MOS pilot projects on the Black Sea and set the task force agenda for the future.

The meeting for the countries of the Caspian Sea and Central Asian region is scheduled for autumn 2011. The meeting will take place in Tbilisi. The project team shall announce the information on dates in due course.
