Workshop on the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006

The European Union (EU) funded TRACECA Maritime Safety and Security II Project has conducted the Workshop on Labour Convention, 2006 of the International Labour Organisation (ILO MLC, 2006), organised within its Activity 5.3. This workshop was organised in Batumi, Georgia, from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 22d of May 2015.

The objectives of the workshop were:

- raising awareness on the benefits of ratification of the ILO MLC, 2006;

- Detailing steps to be taken for effective implementation;

- Emphasising the importance of dialogue with stakeholders;

- Fostering an exchange of experience with project partners having ratified or currently preparing for ratification of the Convention.

Partners having begun implementation have produced presentations on the status of ratification in their countries.

The workshop was aimed at officials being involved in maritime affairs and labour laws.
