On the role of containerization as a priority area in the development of the International Transport Corridor TRACECA

“The TRACECA corridor, being connecting link, has all possibilities of transporting goods both to the EU countries and to China. Uniting 13 countries, the multimodal corridor has various legal aspects and many borders, including sea checkpoints, which makes our work more painstaking and interesting at the same time”, A. Assavbayev emphasized.

During the exchange of views, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA shared plans, vision of the prospects for the development of the potential of the international transport corridor, steps taken to attract stakeholders and business circles in order to discuss the real possibilities of the international transport corridor TRACECA, where the geographical location of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan plays an important role.

The Permanent Secretariat carried out a study with the involvement of international experts and consultants, completed work on the draft Concept for the development of container transport until 2030, aimed at identifying bottlenecks and measures to eliminate them.

 “We are working on a methodology for setting tariffs for container transport. This methodology allows to form common approaches of countries when determining tariffs for container transport. In the future, in order to provide a comprehensive service and set a competitive price, we come up with a proposal to create a joint venture without common assets, namely, to have a single management", said Secretary General A. Assavbayev.
 
The adoption of coordinated and timely measures will increase the volume of cargo transported as part of container trains, connecting the countries of Europe and Asia.
