On September 23, 2022, TRACECA representatives paid an introductory visit to Baku Hovsan International Sea Trade Port LLC

During the visit, the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Assavbayev A.A. got acquainted with the capabilities and infrastructure of the port. The port in Hovsan is working to expand the service sector in the international arena.

Representatives of the port informed that in the first years the main activity of the port was processing, production, canning and sale of seafood. Within the framework of the main activity on the territory of the port, services for the transportation, loading and unloading of dry cargo, containers, construction materials, agricultural products and petroleum products are noted. In addition, the port provides warehousing services and also includes railway services. There are open and closed warehouses on the territory of the port.

One of the remarkable facts in the port's activities was the joint construction with Kazakhstan of the Baku Grain Terminal, which has been operating since October 4, 2007.

During the exchange of views, the participants of the meeting discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of cargo flows along the international transport corridor Europe-the Caucasus-Asia. Baku Hovsan International Sea Trade Port LLC carries out cargo transportation with ports of the Caspian countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran), as well as provides transit services for cargo transportation to Turkey and other countries.

The issues of bottlenecks, possible solutions for the unhindered movement of goods were touched upon, and promising areas of activities were also discussed.

The port was put into operation on November 12, 1956, and since 2019, according to the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku Hovsan International Sea Trade Port LLC has been registered.
