On February 26, 2020 Mr Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General of TRACECA met with Mr Nikolay Yankov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria

The major objective of the meeting consisted in strengthening of the dialogue and cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Azerbaijan as a full member of the IGC TRACECA in joint activities regarding the implementation of the MLA TRACECA provisions.

The main emphasis of the discussions was on the forthcoming Chairmanship of the Republic of Bulgaria in the IGC TRACECA, to be approved within the framework of the Fifteenth Annual Meeting of the IGC in April 2021, in Sofia.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of the institutional activity of the PS and Permanent Representative Offices, taken measures and new initiatives on the development of the international transport corridor TRACECA.

Within the exchange of views Mr Yankov and Mr Assavbayev emphasized the necessity of developing further strategic and integration prospects in the region of the Europe-the Caucasus-Asia for further implementation of the Strategy of the IGC TRACECA 2026.  

The Secretary General of TRACECA shared plans, initiatives, views of the outlook of developing the potential of the international transport corridor, taken steps to attract the interested entities and business communities with the view of discussing viable opportunities of the ITC TRACECA. 

In his turn Mr Yankov, Ambassador of Bulgaria expressed his readiness for concerted efforts and cooperation, as well as provision of the support to the Secretary General in the activities and implementation of the main objectives and provisions of the MLA TRACECA.   

Let us remind that at present the Republic of Azerbaijan is the Chairman in the IGC TRACECA having assumed the Chairmanship during the Fourteenth Annual IGC TRACECA Meeting on 6 December 2020.
