On 23 January 2025, the meeting of the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. A.Assavbayev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. M. Mamytkanov took place at the TRACECA Headquarters
The main attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of development of Europe-the Caucasus-Asia corridor.
Mr. A.A. Assavbayev, Secretary General informed Mr. Ambassador in detail about the key initiatives of the PS IGC TRACECA aimed at simplification of transport operations and increase of transport communication efficiency, in particular, about the TRACECA Multilateral Permits System, work on the draft Agreement on a Single Transit Permit of TRACECA, use of semi-trailers in multimodal transportations, etc.
During dialogue opinions were exchanged on current issues and challenges faced by the countries of the corridor, including bottlenecks of the transport infrastructure, barriers in transit traffic and possible ways of their elimination.
The participants of the meeting also discussed joint measures aimed at attracting additional freight flows to the TRACECA corridor routes, developing the transit potential of Europe-the Caucasus-Asia region and strengthening ties between the participating countries.
The strategic and integration perspectives of the region were also discussed, including prospects for harmonization of transport policy and optimisation of conditions for international trade.
Ambassador Mamytkanov noted the importance and perspective of the TRACECA initiatives, emphasising the interest of the Kyrgyz Republic in the development of transit potential within the corridor and international transport cooperation in general.
The Secretary General, Mr. A.A. Assavbayev addressed to H.E. Mr. Mamytkanov with a request to facilitate early coordination of the position of the Kyrgyz Party on the draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the PS IGC TRACECA and the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF).
In his turn, Ambassador Mamytkanov assured the Secretary General of his direct support in order to accelerate the internal approval procedures to submit the country's position.
At the end of the meeting the Parties emphasized the importance of strengthening the interaction and communication between the Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA and the Embassies of the TRACECA member countries accredited in Baku (Azerbaijan), including the Kyrgyz Republic.
