Round table and applied workshop on regular operations at TRACECA

On 17 April 2012, two subsequent events were organised in Baku at the premises of the Permanent Secretariat with the support of LOGMOS project – a round table for stakeholders in Azerbaijan and a regional applied workshop.

The events started with elaboration of the action plan to contribute to the successful development of the continuous transport of TRACECA. Then, in the regional dimensions with the representatives of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey presented their vision for development of reliable modern logistics operations on TRACECA.

Thinking that TRACECA dimension requires not only regional efforts, but also local actions in view of improving international logistics chains possible for the corridor, the main objective of the workshop is to invite all concerned parties to a round table discussion to define the local actions aimed at improvement of containerisation of the TRACECA route and implementation of suitable customs procedures.

Representatives of the beneficiary countries made presentations on the good practice and development trends in their respective countries. The presentations and discussion covered such issues as traffic flows and infrastructure, railways development trends and freight forwarding services on TRACECA routes, advantages of PAEIS system, main tasks in railway customs procedures, etc.

The workshops was organised in a manner of interactive discussion to provide all counterparts with the opportunity to share their positive experience and concerns, elaborate on short-term actions to be taken both at the national and regional level, and help move forward with the introduction of the effective block train operations in the region.
