Baku Shipyard
The annual production of steel structures at the shipyard is 25,000 tons, which is equivalent to the production of 4 tankers and 4 ships. In addition, the plant repairs 80-100 different types of vessels every year. On October 26, 2016, the Baku Shipyard and the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company signed a contract worth about $ 80 million for the construction of two unique Ro-Pax ferries for 100 passengers, 56 wagons and 50 trucks.
The Caspian Shipping Company also ordered the construction of two tankers with a capacity of 8000 tons. The cost of tankers is about $ 34 million. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan opened today the first oil tanker built at the Baku Shipyard by order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and launched the “Azerbaijan” ferry (Ro-Pax). Both tankers and ferries will be used to transport transit cargo across the Caspian basin. Ro-Pax ferries will be able to transport both trucks and wagons, and will also be involved in container transport by car or on railway platforms.
