On January 31, 2024 the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Assavbayev A.A. paid a working visit to the port of Constanta (Romania)
Within the framework of the visit to the largest port of Romania - Constanta, the delegation of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan discussed issues related to the port activity, familiarised with the port infrastructure, its technical capabilities and prospective projects.
During the meeting with representatives of the port, issues of logistics with Romanian companies whose activities are directly related to the port of Constanta were discussed. Discussions were also held with business representatives of Romania on the problematic issues of cargo transportation and further development prospects.
In addition, the discussions touched upon the problems of customs clearance during transportation within the TRACECA corridor, which carriers faced during the first pilot transportation of goods by semi-trailers in May-June 2023.
At the same time, the Secretary General exchanged views with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, Mr. Adrian Gheorghe Fogis, raised issues on the possibility of reducing the time for clearance and waiting at the port for cargo vehicles, including semi-trailers, increasing the number of vessels with the seaports of Georgia, plans to increase the port capacity, etc.

- In the period from May to June 2023, a pilot project of the transportation of goods by semi-trailers within TRACECA was carried out.
- TRACECA continues to work on the possibility of developing container and piggyback transportation using the ports of Bulgaria and Romania.
