Secretary General Holds Meeting with the Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia

During the visit, the Secretary General familiarized himself with the current state of Georgia’s port infrastructure, the capacity and technological capabilities of the operating terminals, as well as the country’s potential in maritime logistics and transit transport.

The sides discussed in detail current trends in the development of maritime connectivity, existing challenges in maritime freight transport, as well as strategic prospects for further deepening practical cooperation and integrating national transport capacities into the TRACECA international transport corridor.

As part of the programme, the Secretary General visited port facilities in the city of Poti, where he personally familiarised himself with the operational activities and infrastructure capacities of the APM Terminals Poti terminal (Poti Sea Port LLC), as well as with the development project of New Poti Port LLC.

One of TRACECA’s priority areas of activity is the development of digital solutions and the implementation of Maritime Single Window mechanisms to simplify and speed up administrative and customs procedures at trade ports, which helps reduce vessel processing time and ensure the seamlessness of transit freight transport.
