New initiatives of the Permanent Secretariat and TRACECA Development Plans for the coming years 2022-2023 became the priority issues of discussion during the meeting with the Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, H.E. Сahit Bagçi

On 26 November 2021 the exchange of views between the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA Asset Assavbaev and H.E. Ambassador Сahit Bagçi referred to the promising areas for the development of the corridor, including issues of containerization, tariff formation and tariff policy in the countries, digitalization, liberalization, etc.

As part of the Agenda of the meeting, the Ambassador noted the positive changes, trends and directions observed in the activities of the Permanent Secretariat over the past few months.

Along with the outlined plans for 2022, initiatives and approved projects, including the Harmonized Conditions for the Transport of Goods, the Agreement on Single Transit Permit, etc., the participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of expanding the frontiers of TRACECA cooperation, diversification and commercialization of routes.

A number of other significant issues were also discussed, including the possibility to receive support from the Embassy for carrying out a visit to Turkey and having a meeting with the Chairman of the TRACECA National Commission, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, taking into consideration the conditions of the pandemic.

An exchange of views also touched upon the operation of checkpoints in the region, support for the idea of accelerating checkpoints’ crossing, as well as - the possibilities of implementing the TRACECA recommendations aimed at simplifying border crossing procedures.

Given the importance of the efficient development of transport infrastructure and the countries’ potential in the TRACECA region, H.E. Ambassador confirmed his readiness to assist in the development of transport and trade in the region.
