TRACECA Participated in the Caspian Ports and Logistics 2025 Conference in Aktau

On December 09-11, 2025, in Aktau (Republic of Kazakhstan), within the framework of the international Caspian Ports and Logistics 2025 exhibition and conference, “The Middle Corridor: Aktau Hub’s 2025 Achievements and Vision for 2026” session, dedicated to the discussion of the current achievements and perspectives on the Middle Corridor, as well as the role of the Port of Aktau as one of the key logistics hubs of the Caspian region, was held.

The main goal of the event was to facilitate the development of sustainable multimodal connectivity between Europe, the Caucasus and Asia, strengthen interaction between state bodies, international organizations and private sector, as well as the exchange of experience on increasing the effectiveness of port infrastructure, logistics processes and cross-border transport along the routes of the Middle Corridor. Within the discussions, particular attention was paid to the issues of ports modernization, digitalization of transport processes, introduction of international standards and increasing the competitiveness of the Caspian routes.

On the first day of the event, the participants also visited the Port of Aktau, where they were familiarized with key port infrastructure facilities and ongoing development projects aimed at expanding the capacity and improving the quality of logistics services.

Within the framework of the session, Mr Asset Assavbayev, TRACECA Secretary General, delivered a speech, where he noted the highly significant experience of the TRACECA programme in the development of transport links and emphasized the significance of the TRACECA Basic Multilateral Agreement as the legal base of the corridor’s functioning. The Secretary General informed the participants about the current priorities of the organization, including the implementation of the TRACECA Strategy and the Action Plan, development of the port and multimodal infrastructure, as well as the promotion of initiatives on the digital transformation of transport and logistics processes.

Special emphasis was placed on the TRACECA Digital Concept, the activities of the Working Group on Digitalization and preparation of the draft Agreement on the application of electronic documents, aimed at the development of paperless transport and mutual recognition of electronic data between the member states. Plans were also outlined to launch the Maritime Single Window initiative in Caspian Sea ports as an important tool for simplifying procedures and increasing the transparency of maritime transport.

During the session, the participants discussed the achievements of the Port of Aktau in 2025, plans for developing container capacity, implementing modern port and shipping processes management systems, and prospects for further strengthening cooperation within the Middle Corridor with the participation of international financial institutions and the business circles.

TRACECA attaches special importance to holding such international events, which serve as an effective platform for dialogue, exchange of experience and development of coordinated approaches between member states and partners, as well as for promoting joint initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of transport and logistics infrastructure and strengthening connectivity between Europe and Asia.
