Prospective areas of cooperation with member states and partner organizations – agenda of the visit of the Secretary General to the Republic of Tajikistan

In the period from 10 to 13 June 2026, a working visit of the Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, Mr. Choriev Jasurbek Ergashevich, took place to the city of Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.

During his visit, the Secretary General took part in the 53rd session of the OSJD Ministerial Conference. During his participation in the Ministerial Conference, he delivered a welcoming address on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Organization for Co-operation of Railways, noting its significant contribution to the development of international railway cooperation.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of further strengthening the partnership between TRACECA and OSJD within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in June 2024, and also focused on joint work on the implementation of the CIM/SMGS electronic consignment note along the TRACECA routes and the promotion of digitalization of transport processes.

The successful implementation of test stages of the project with the participation of railway administrations of a number of countries was noted in particular, and confidence was expressed that the further development of digital solutions would contribute to reducing transportation times and simplifying border crossing procedures.

Also, within the programme of his stay, the Secretary General held a number of meetings with representatives of state bodies and international organizations.

On 11 June 2026, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the TRACECA National Commission in the Republic of Tajikistan – Minister of Transport Mr. Azim Ibrohim. During the discussion, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation, as well as the country’s expectations from the IGC TRACECA. Special attention was paid to the following issues:

• development of transport connectivity in Central Asia;
• support for mountain states;
• digitalization of transport;
• sustainable transport infrastructure;
• development of human capital in the transport sector.

Following the meeting, the importance of further development of cooperation and strengthening interaction in priority areas was noted, including the resumption of technical assistance projects aimed at improving the personnel potential of the transport sector of member states.

Also, on 11 June 2026, the Secretary General held a meeting with the Chairman of the OSJD Committee, Mr. Mirosław Antonowicz, during which the parties exchanged views on current aspects of cooperation and confirmed their interest in the further development of partnership relations.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Choriev J.E. presented for consideration a draft Joint Cooperation Roadmap as a practical mechanism for the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parties in 2024. In turn, the Chairman of the OSJD Committee shared plans to include the PC IGC TRACECA in the working bodies of OSJD, in particular in the Commission on Transport Policy and Development Strategy.

In addition, within the framework of the visit, on 12 June 2026, a meeting of the Secretary General with the Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan – Mr. Aziz Nabizoda, took place, dedicated to issues of cooperation with TRACECA in the field of civil aviation. During the meeting, Mr. Choriev J.E. was introduced to the initiatives being implemented in the country in the aviation sector and informed about plans to intensify cooperation in this area. The parties discussed issues of liberalization of air transport in the Central Asia region, as well as opportunities for assistance in training and capacity building for the aviation sector.

Following the visit, mutual interest was confirmed in further strengthening cooperation, expanding practical interaction, and implementing joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
